MM Recap/IR Fazit

I finished a few more MaM challenges before October was over, I'm just woefully late in recording them.

I spent a lovely day sewing with DH's nieces, aged 10 and 13. They're both interested in sewing (we made pajamas last year), but since they don't live nearby and their mom doesn't craft they appreciate a nudge from me every now and then. So MaM part 2 is a joint venture. We made: an appliquéd pillowcase (embellishment, check one) and a fleece bathrobe (item not meant for day wear, check two).

The pillow was cut and sewn and the appliqués designed and cut out by the girl. I ironed (with two-sided fusible) and sewed them on.

The robe was made with an Ottobre pattern. I don't have the issue on hand right now; if you're interested leave a comment and I will look it up! The older girl, although she has only worked with a pattern once (to my knowledge) is becoming quite proficient and did most of the work herself. I did have to tell her how to get it done with almost 10 inches less fabric than the pattern called for, though. You know by now that is my specialty :-)

I realize only now I don't have a picture of the finished robe, so you'll have to make do with this in-progress pic (which I kind of love by the way). If you need proof, you can come looking for little yellow furballs hiding in my corners. Yellow fleece. Is all I say.

I also made the craftiest of craft project with the scrappiest of scraps (MaM challenge check three). Hardly any sewing involved, and some scraps were literally the last couple of inches I had left. I proudly present: Glass cosies!

While this sounds and looks a rather odd/twee project it is actually one of the more useful I have done. We have lots of clear glasses that match and used up legions in the course of a day because no one could remember which glass was whose. Now we do.

Ich schulde Euch noch ein Inspiriere und Repariere-Fazit. Ich habe zwar nicht alles abgearbeitet, bin aber mit Hilfe zweier Nähgäste, 10 und 13 Jahre alt, recht weit gekommen.

Die eine wollte ein appliziertes Kissen, womit der Punkt "Verzierung" abgehakt wäre. Die Verzierungen und den Stoff hat sie selbst entworfen und zugeschnitten, das Kissen zusammengenäht auch, ich habe aber die Applikationen festgebügelt und -genäht, damit ihr nicht vor lauter Fitzelarbeit die Lust vergeht!



Ihre Schwester (die Ältere) wollte einen Fleece-Bademantel. Fertige Beweisfotos fehlen zwar, der gelbe Staub wird uns aber noch ein paar Jahre begleiten glaube ich! Sie ist die Art furchtloser Näherin (mit nicht besonders viel Erfahrung), die sagt, das wird heute fertig, so ist es doch ganz gut, das braucht zuviel Zeit das lasse ich weg. So kommt sie auf ihrem Kenntnislevel gut zurecht und hat Erfolgserlebnisse! Ich habe zwar jeden Schritt begleitet und insbesondere beim Zuschneiden Hand angelegt (zu wenig Stoff, na sowas!), aber das meiste hat sie ganz toll selbst gemacht.




Trotzdem tu' ich im Namen der Challenge jetzt mal so als hätte ich ein Kleidungsstück genäht, das nicht Oberbekleidung ist. Häkchen dran! (Das Schnittmuster war übrigens aus einer Ottobre; wenn es jemanden interessiert, kann ich es heraussuchen, parat habe ich es gerade nicht.)

Als letztes habe ich den Punkt "Bastelnähen mit Resten" abgehakt. Umfrage: was ist ein gutes Wort für die Art Nähprojekte, die aus ein bisschen Stoff und kaum Nähten bestehen und notfalls auch aus Seidenpapier gefaltet/Wolle gefilzt/Garn gehäkelt werden könnten? "Ich habe genäht!" trifft es nicht so ganz.

Ich benutze vorerst den Arbeitstitel Bastelnähen, hier also mein Projekt (verschiedene Größen sind verschiedenen Resten geschuldet): Glashüllen.



Das wirkt jetzt erst mal ein bisschen lächerlich, ist aber möglicherweise das Praktischste, das ich je genäht habe. Wir haben ganz viele gleiche Gläser, und nie wusste man, wem welches gehört und musste dann abends 15 Gläser in die Spülmaschine räumen. Jetzt hat jeder seine Glashülle und kann sein Glas den Tag über behalten.
