Rub-Off Girl`s Skirt/ Kopierter Mädchenrock

I have quite a backlog of things to show you and have finally made myself sit down and document my makes. For a moment, I considered letting it go and starting „fresh“, but this is my sewing log as well as my sewing blog. Also: let's not let up after four years of blogging (wow!).

I'll start with my first rub-off, a girl's pinafore skirt. This has been finished forever, but never blogged. Or properly photographed, so all you get are some action shots!

The rubbing off went well, applying the eyelets and fastenings went terribly wrong. After I'd had my first, excellent experience hammering in „Prym“ metal eyelets I ordered a round of hammer-in (missing a word here) buttons from „Stoff & Stil“ and boy, was that a mistake. They came apart, were too thick for the fabric, didn't quite fasten on themselves...

All that after the damage (holes!) had been done. I compromised by sewing the side fastenings shut (DD is straight up and down and doesn't really need side fastenings) with a pretty eyelet stitch and making DD swear never to open up the top fastenings which sort of hold up after much manipulation (fingers crossed). Phew!

Happy sewing!

*****************

  3. Pretty! Applying snaps/eyelets/etc. always scares me...I've had way too many bad experiences.;)

  4. Very cute pinafore! The pinafore with the bicycle photo makes me think of my childhood.

My success rate with snaps isn't great, either. I wonder if using heavy-duty machine is necessary to get the kind of pressure needed. (That's my excuse, anyway!)
