Girl's Dress/Mädchenkleid Ottobre 3/2008-25

Quick! Or the hole in my blog might become a case of blogger's block.
I've been busy but not too busy to sew, thankfully, so I have a bit of catching up to do. I've contemplated clever schemes to ease back into blogging, but who knows when I'll next find time to write, so I'll just jump in with the cutest (and most involved) of my recent projects.

DD sent me off to fabric market ordering red fabric with white dots. I was quite fascinated by this specific request, and of course I delivered. Looking for a pattern I found this Ottobre one which is also made up in a red and white fabric in the magazine. DD loved the pictures and she loves the dress. I find that it is usually hard for her to put together fabric and pattern in her mind. If she doesn't like the fabric she'll nix the pattern and vice versa. At any rate, the dress is a success and she has already decided she will wear it for her first day of (grade/primary) school in August. Never mind the dress is red and her school bag, jacket and school cone are pink. Yeah.

(Yes I realize the dress is hung up terribly crumpled.)

One thing I changed about the pattern: The dress is meant to be closed with fabric ties in the back. Neither pretty nor practical, IMO, so I used buttons and self-fabric loops.

So, jetzt aber! Zum Schreiben hatte ich eine Weile keine Zeit, genäht habe ich trotzdem, wo fange ich an? (Die Schätze aus entfernter Erbmasse, ich sag' nur alte Schnittmuster, ergäben auch einen hübschen Post, und außerdem...) Haaaalt! Schluss mit den Wolkentraumschlösschen, es muss ein Post ins Land, sonst liegt hier bald ein weiterer verwaister Nähblog herum. Ich fange einfach mal an und greife dafür zum Dekorativsten, das der letzte Monat gebracht hat: ein Tochterkleid.

(Was? Ihr tragt keine Wäschekorbdeckel als Hut? Pech!)

Den Stoff hat sich meine Kleine genau so vom Stoffmarkt gewünscht, und glücklicherweise war Ottobre so nett, die Vorlage für unser Kleid auch in rot/weiß zu nähen, so dass der Nachwuchs sich das auch vorstellen konnte (sonst werden immer die schönsten Schnitte abgelehnt, nur weil ihr der Stoff nicht gefällt). Das Kleid ist dann auch so heiß geliebt, dass sie jetzt schon weiß: das muss zur Einschulung angezogen werden. Das Kleid ist rot, alles andere in ihrem Leben rosa (Ranzen, Schultüte, Jacken), ich bin ganz ruhig, kosmisch betrachtet kommt es auf ein weiteres Farbexperiment auch nicht mehr an, ich hab's: das Einschulungsbild wird schwarz-weiß!

(Ich seh's auch, ja doch, total verknautscht.)

Einzige Änderung am Schnitt: hinten sollte das Kleid mit Bändern geschlossen werden, finde ich weder attraktiv noch praktisch, habe ich also in Knöpfe und Schlingenverschlüsse geändert.
