Knit Socks/Stricksocken

I also have: Knit a pair of sock(-let-)s. I would've made them larger except the children had been using the wool for crafting and I didn't know how much there was left.

I only ever knit at the hospital. (And only socks so far; I hope I'll never have enough time for a sweater!) DS came home today and the socks are finished. I call that good timing! Thank you all for your well wishes; he is already roaming the house with his sister and feeling fine.

As to November 11th being Corduroy Appreciation Day:

I hadn't known about that. November 11 is two different holidays around here none of which have anything to do with sewing. First, it's St. Martin's day and children have parades carrying crafted lanterns, singing songs and walking after an impersonator of St. Martin on a horse.

Second, in my part of Germany it's the start of carnival celebrations. No, really, die-hard carnival fans start now and carry on through to Lent. Regular people, not necessarily.

Anyway, here's DD with her horse lantern, wearing the corduroy pants I made here. Cord on November 11, all's well.

  1. Carnival?! Now!
I am glad to hear that your son is home again. I also hope you never have time for a sweater.

  2. Glad to hear your son is feeling much better. A pair of socks is very productive for a hospital stay! Knitting is my emergency hobby too. My total of knitted items = two scarves.

November 11 is also Veteran's Day in the U.S. I guess it's a popular day everywhere.

  3. They are nice colourful socks. How horrid to need to go to hospital. I hope you can stay away from the hospital, if not knitting socks, which I find rather useful as a hobby I can carry about in my handbag for waiting "emergencies".
The horse lantern looks like fun.

  4. I love the horse lantern! I also love how many public holiday/festival type events you have in your country; here people go outside and dress up on Halloween only, I can't think of any other days. I wish we had more of a tradition like that.
